BREXIT is a Huge Win for Democracy!
Britain just voted historically to leave the EU, being the first country to do so. This is a huge win for self-determination, democracy (of the right kind) and liberty. In this show, Robin gives some context to the vote, why it went the way it did, and how the media and establishment are having great difficulty understanding it. This amazing event speaks to something Robin discusses in his book, “If You Can Keep It: Why We Nearly Lost It and How We Get It Back”: that at times of tyranny, democracy tends to stand with liberty rather than against it… at least in our Anglo tradition.
The vote provides an important data point about human nature and the power – or lack of it – of political culture to bury the human instinct for justice and liberty. Apparently, even three or four generations of rising and rampant social democracy and welfarism doesn’t destroy the will of the people for liberty. There’s a difference between democracy and Democracy, and BREXIT highlights it wonderfully. It also proves the ability of one man to change history. Nigel Farage was a joke figure or a dangerous one, depending on which Leftist newspaper you read or show you watched, right up until the day of the vote… and yet he’s mostly responsible for what might be the biggest single change in the trajectory of the history of Europe if not since the second world war then certainly since the British joined the European Union 43 years ago.
